Batteries and Battery Configurations

The information provided is for a 2002 Duffy 18' Classic. Many systems and components are common across models and years.
It is up to you to determine if this information applies to your boat or not.

Type

The standard battery is the Trojan T-105 6 volt deep cycle battery. Trojan's web site provides lots of helpful information, including maintenance information. Most importantly, these batteries require frequent water replenishment. There are battery watering systems available that make the task easier by plumbing all batteries together to allow for a single water feed.

Configurations

Duffy offered several battery configurations to provide different maximum voltages and power levels for driving the propulsion system. There are 36, 48V and 96V configurations which all use combinations of 6V batteries in series and/or parallel.
12V is provided for other systems by tapping two or more 6V batteries.
